On the St. Croix & Mississippi...

Continuing the 4th of July weekend with a day off from work on Monday, we ventured out on to the St. Croix River, and joined up with the Mississippi at Prescott, Wisconsin, just down river from Hastings. We went all the way to Red Wing, Minnesota, 26 miles downstream - and even went through a huge lock, to be deposited 8 feet lower on the Mississippi... Here are the crew holding us to the side of the lock as the water drained out!

We stopped at the Harbor Bar in Red Wing and had a great burger lunch.

On the way back, both Libby and Jack skied up the river for a long way. We saw a few bald eagles, wild turkey buzzards, turtles and a few fish. What a beautiful day on the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers!
