Jack Goes to Aberdeen, Scotland!

Jack and Chip went to Aberdeen Scotland this weekend… where Jack will be until June 15th, studying at the University of Aberdeen.  We got him set up in his dorm, walked for miles and miles in the old, granite streets of the city, experienced the cold winds of the northern UK highlands, checked out the school, met lots of students from all around the world, toured a maritime museum, saw lots of helicopters going out to the oil rigs round the clock, and had some great meals and local brews in the pubs of this old city.  Good luck this semester, Jack!

Winter Carnival!

Well, it's a hundred below zero, so we might as well celebrate winter.  It's the 2014 St. Paul Winter Carnival!

Christmas 2013!

It was a busy Christmas season for us - we did a lot!… we all went to the British Advertising Awards at the Walker Art Center followed by a great dinner in Uptown, Jack and Luke did some skiing despite some really frigid weather this season, Laura and her sisters visited the Russian Art Museum, Chip and the brothers-in-law did the pub-crawl to some of the new craft beer tap rooms in Northeast, we baked Grandma Penne's famous Christmas cookies, did some new, big puzzles, and went to some big family parties.  Happy New Year!

Libby in D.C.!

Chip went to D.C. in early December for work, and Libby came along to see her Grandparents!  It was a fun trip, with perfect weather, wonderful sights and most of all a chance to get family together.  We gathered at Maplewood for Mom's birthday on the 1st, and Jim's family brought an amazing dinner and cake.  We also got to see the "Capitol Steps" performance downtown, Storm Troopers on the National Mall, Ford's Theater, the Pentagon - including an astronaut (thanks, Jim!) - and the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington.
